We're exceptional though some must shower with their mouth closed and boil their drinking water. (Original Post) egbertowillies Sep 2022 OP

I’m still stunned the city’s water authority is getting a pass on this. I don’t care if funds were cut. They have a mouth and should have used it everyday if necessary to get action. This was definitely a problem longer then just weeks.

There are well written articles everywhere laying out how this is the face of systemic racism.
The water system in Jackson will cost billions to fix.

Mississippi is receiving roughly $75 million in EPA funds to improve drinking water and wastewater systems across the state, according to a December 2021 EPA funding announcement. It’s unclear how much of those funds are focused on Jackson.

Mississippi’s Legislature allocated $450 million of the state’s share of federal funds from the 2021 American Rescue Plan, a Covid-19 relief package, to water infrastructure improvements. Mississippi water utilities were able to begin applying for that money last week, with requests for funding due by Sept. 30. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/jackson-mississippi-water-crisis-epa-inspector-general-rcna47099

Where should Jackson have gotten the money from to fix this billion dollar mess? The EPA is investigating this mess and 9 people were indicted in Flint. So let's see what they come up with. Me I think it is the same as education. Minority communities do not get the same education. That is just a fact. Blaming the minority community will make you feel better but it is not the answer. Screaming about a problem will just get you fired.
