(2,656 posts)He interjected his own, somewhat wry, comments while he was reading the statement of congratulations from the Canadian Prime Minister to President Obama.
As the anchorman read the part about the Prime Minister recalling that he had worked with President Obama on economic matters, the anchorman added, "The auto industry, my words, not his."
As the anchorman came to realize that the Prime Minister's congratulatory statement was somewhat rather lengthy, the anchorman said words to the effect, "This statement is longer than Governor Romney's speech." Moments later he added, "Quite a bit longer."

(32,723 posts)Usually the concession speech is seen as a politician's finest hour. Gore in 2000 is a fine example.
Romney's was pathetic. Like he was telling investors he had just lost a business deal but it didn't really matter to the bottom line.
