(982 posts)They are claiming that DeSantis used this stunt to highlight the need for immigrant policy reform like he did some kind of noble deed. What a bunch of sick F*cks.

(8,965 posts)McCain was a GOP supporter, and there were several others. It would have passed the House as well, but pressure from Freedom Caucus members compelled Speaker John Boehner to bottle it up. So it never reached Obama's desk. Serial obstructionists love to label the other side as "Do Nothings" when they themselves have mastered the fine art of obstructionism. Mitch McConnell for one has taken it to a whole new level. One political party seems to understand how the legislative process works in regard to addressing complex issues. The other is more interested in carnival barking, regardless of the legalities and adverse impact on those who are used as pawns in their media circus.

(111,332 posts)Yay for Sheriff Salazar, a cop with a conscience. Or maybe Abbott is pitching a fit because De Satan is stealing his material.
But remote island? Please. Maybe remote from Texas or Florida, but it's only an hour or so by ferry from the mainland.
I have to wish these people well. I have to wish De Satan lands his sorry ass in jail with a huge fine that will strip him down to his shorts for violating their civil rights.

(24,654 posts)Not exactly remote. But if you're getting off an airplane expecting to be in a large city I can see where it would be quite disorienting and feel remote.
I am living for a day I see a Trump and a DeSantis perp walk.

(613 posts)Martha's Vineyard is not a remote island, but your other points are strong.
The real case here is not where they were taken, but how they were taken and under what auspices they were taken.
I think it is Kidnapping, but I'm not a legal expert.

(4,361 posts)when a major political party never considers the consequences of their actions. It's like throwing mud against the wall to see what sticks, so they resort to human trafficking. An act of desperation to fire up the rabid base.
