Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO) - 9/23/22

Last edited Sat Sep 24, 2022, 05:51 PM - Edit history (1)

Monologue: Putin Problems

Bill reacts to the top stories of the week, including the escalation of Putin's assault on Ukraine and President Biden's declaration that the pandemic is over.

Michael Moore: I Have Never Felt This Optimistic

Filmmaker Michael Moore joins Bill to share his optimism for the Democratic Party's chances in the midterm elections.

The Victimhood Olympics

Jonathan Lemire and Vivek Ramaswamy join Bill to discuss America's transition from a nation of underdogs to a nation of victims.

New Rule: Fighting for America's Soul

For all the talk about fighting for the soul of America, nobody seems to like it very much.

Overtime: Jonathan Lemire, Vivek Ramaswamy

Bill Maher and his guests answer viewer questions after the show.

Here's a "bootleg" version of the show which includes the entire interview with Michael Moore (6:35), entire panel discussion with Jonathan Lemire and Vivek Ramaswamy (17:48), Bill's "funny bit" (31:47), and includes the opening part of New Rules (43:52). It won't last long, as usual:

He came on too strong. We needed a Malcolm Nance or someone more assertive from MSNBC to shut him down. But I did appreciate the humor.

for him. Sometimes not. I felt like I was being gaslighted the whole show. Maher pushed back, but the guy was on a mission.

And we know that Bill likes "lively discussion," but with only two on the panel, this isn't "Politically Incorrect," it's going to take a Malcolm Nance to shut a disruptive panel member down (like he did with Ben Shapiro).

I'm hardly a conspiracy theorist or an election denier, but I have always believed that Stacey Abrams was cheated out of a win the last time. And kudos to Bill for calling him out - we've got a country full of demented national election deniers led by a criminal who stole classified documents, and this guy picks out Stacey Abrams?!

And then accepting the the result that says you're the "winner" defines hypocrisy.

For once in a really long time, during OT, Bill called BS on a RW bullshitter. I didn't think he had anything to bring to the conversation.

That guy was not only annoying, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

I agree that new and interesting perspectives should be given a chance, but they need to be vetted beforehand. Bill did his best, but he needed a Malcolm Nance on the panel to back him up!

Haven't seen Donna Edwards in a while either.

Donna Edwards would be great - or any Democrat from Congress. I'm always hoping for a panel like Amy Klobuchar and Rob Reiner, LOL. Max Brooks is really good, too - he'll even "correct" Bill if it's necessary...

I was disappointed that Bill finally shut down Overtime since, between the two of them, they were engaging in such a profound discussion that he was left out!

Overtime: Doug Jones, Ali Velshi

He was into both-siderism yet pushing harder against the liberals for some reason. And the idea that the trafficked migrants were not actual victims is absurd. I knew this guy was a lightweight when he speechified about humans being the same everywhere but later insisted that Europeans are different. WTF?

By Democrats Stacey Abrams and Nancy Pelosi! The Republicans have refused to recognize the outcome of the 2020 election for going on two years and he brought up Stacey Abrams??
