I've been there and it was built circa 1492 by Italian artisans - as a fort!

I'm wondering how long it's going to take for the majority - even his enforcers - to turn on him and his murderous/suicidal policies. He's turning into Stalin who was responsible for millions of deaths. I also visited what was then Soviet Georgia which obviously deeply resented the occupation. Georgia has a different language, different culture, more Middle Eastern than Russian. And I was puzzled by the number of statues of Stalin there, I knew he was not "in favor" in the USSR. So I asked and it was explained to me that Stalin was Georgian, not Russian - and he was admired in Georgia because "he killed so many Russians."
