(206,072 posts)I've seen it here in the North Country all my life. I wouldn't call it socialism, I'd call it neighbors helping neighbors. It happens in neighborhoods, too - folks reaching out to a neighbor in trouble - this is just on a larger scale.

(32,794 posts)Term broadly and negatively. Roads, schools, libraries, grants to build them or infrastructure bills for them is socialism. Coming together as a country and providing government assistance via tax dollars from other states is socialism.
I see these yard signs 100% American 0% socialism..thats pure nonsense. The term has gotten a bad rap due to the gqp. Its time to end it!
According to the socialist view, individuals do not live or work in isolation but live in cooperation with one another. Furthermore, everything that people produce is in some sense a social product, and everyone who contributes.
