St. Petersburg Florida Mayor Praises Biden And More 'Folks Working Together' As Hurricane Ian Hits

Hurricane Ian’s impact on Florida is discussed by St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch. "It's good to see folks working together for the benefit of our community, because lives are literally at stake, and certainly our community, and certainly those communities to the south will need a lot of support going forward,” he says after speaking with President Biden and state-level officials. - The ReidOut - MSNBC - 09/28/2022.

I've seen it here in the North Country all my life. I wouldn't call it socialism, I'd call it neighbors helping neighbors. It happens in neighborhoods, too - folks reaching out to a neighbor in trouble - this is just on a larger scale.

Term broadly and negatively. Roads, schools, libraries, grants to build them or infrastructure bills for them is socialism. Coming together as a country and providing government assistance via tax dollars from other states is socialism.

I see these yard signs 100% American 0% socialism..that’s pure nonsense. The term has gotten a bad rap due to the gqp. It’s time to end it!

According to the socialist view, individuals do not live or work in isolation but live in cooperation with one another. Furthermore, everything that people produce is in some sense a social product, and everyone who contributes.

The above blurb is from the internet encyclopedia of philosophy

No matter where we lived. And it's worked for generations - and is now being put to work for the residents of Florida - reaching out to neighbors in trouble is how we survive.

And, of course, President Biden has pledged to help in any way that the federal government can. "Red states" or "blue states," we're all in support of our fellow citizens now.
