Beto O'Rourke will do away with the STAAR testing program that is hated by high school teachers all over Texas.
It's a standardized test similar to the SAT that's given to every high school senior - only in Texas and nowhere else. The results are meaningless for college acceptance, but teachers are required to prepare students for the test.
STAAR is sort of like the "No child left behind" program, but it's only given in Texas. It's is hated by teachers and students alike.
