Related: About this forumBREAKING: Trump Planned to EXTORT DOJ with Trade of Stolen Classified Docs for Russian Docs
A new bombshell report cites sources close to Donald Trump that before the August 8 search warrant was executed on Mar-A-Lago he was demanding his team offer the DOJ a trade that he would give back the records he stole if they gave him records relating to the DOJs Russian investigation. This absurd offer never was acted upon but can be used to show Trumps intent in any potential future criminal case. - Meidas Touch.

(47,520 posts)Clearly his involvement with Russia must have been pretty bad if he wants those documents, maybe worse than we'd thought.

(4,609 posts)What we see from him in public is the proverbial tip of the iceberg. There is no bottom with Trump.
PatSeg
(47,520 posts)With Trump, "What you see, is what you get" only much, much worse. No matter what you think you can imagine, plan on it being double or triple that.
I remember how people thought the Russian dossier was over-the-top and not believable. Now I believe the reality was probably even worse, which would explain why he freaks out whenever the "Russian Hoax" comes up.
Yes, there truly is no bottom with the man and though we'll never know everything, over time more and more of his ugly life will come to the surface.

(53,794 posts)the DOJ has on him in the Russian investigation, but it also shows how dumb trump is in thinking he can blackmail Biden's DOJ.
His bootlicker Barr is not running the DOJ anymore. And him thinking blackmailing the DOJ would never get out is over-the-top stupidity.

(3,739 posts)It is being reported and discussed on MSNBC right now. The story came from the The New York Times. It just broke a few minutes ago.

When I read there was a "bombshell report," I assumed an official document from the DoJ, FBI, USSS, or even the J6 Committee.
But this is not a "report" as much as it is a journalist's "reporting." It has no weight and will be forgotten in a week.

(5,935 posts)How Trump Deflected Demands for Documents, Enmeshing Aides
New York Times, 10/8
Mr. Trump, still determined to show he had been wronged by the F.B.I. investigation into his 2016 campaigns ties to Russia, was angry with the National Archives and Records Administration for its unwillingness to hand over a batch of sensitive documents that he thought proved his claims.
In exchange for those documents, Mr. Trump told advisers, he would return to the National Archives the boxes of material he had taken to Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. Trumps aides never pursued the idea. But the episode is one in a series that demonstrates how Mr. Trump spent a year and a half deflecting, delaying and sometimes leading aides to dissemble when it came to demands from the National Archives and ultimately the Justice Department to return the material he had taken, interviews and documents show.

(205,580 posts)Not only did he steal classified documents and hid them at his "properties," he's guilty of tax evasion in New York and accused of election interference in Georgia - what is taking so long??

TFG has in effect admitted to obstruction and other crimes. This may push AG Garland to bring charges

"Tonight, what is he still hiding?" asked MSNBC anchor Ayman Mohyeldin. "New allegations that Trump might have kept more documents from the National Archives."
He explained the difficult situation facing Trump's lawyers, "because it's not just the mess he's in right now, it's that, as we learn on a near daily basis with this guy, there is always more with Trump. More scandal, more illegality, and more pain for his lawyers.".....
"This is the very kind of activity, of obstruction, that is the tipping point, many times, for the Justice Department, after they already accumulated the evidence sufficient for indictment, as to whether or not to prosecute," Goodman said. "I think this is just outrageous and outlandish that he would still have documents."

(9,833 posts)Quite possibly the only hard-on he can manage. But that rankled him enormously. Enough to corrupt every official including Bill Barr, who deserves a flogging, confession or not.
Obsessed, bothered and bewildered.

(9,670 posts)The entire GOP is complicit.
The continuing cover-up is another crime in itself.
DOJ isn't just faced with coming after Trump.
The evidence likely clearly shows the above to be true.
Their decisions are based on whether our government can withstand one of its halves being an actual crime syndicate.

My broken record:

(205,580 posts)What I don't get is how hundreds of the violent insurrectionists he called to the Capitol on January 6th have been identified, charged, tried, convicted and jailed - yet the one who called them there to overthrow the U.S. government is still out there, holding his "rallies," spreading his lies about the 2020 election and grifting more "campaign donations," telling them that he intends to run for a third time!

(50,957 posts)And he is saying that the proof of that is in the records of the DOJ's Russian investigation.
And that investigation was 6 years ago.
And the DOJ has had those records for all that time.
It also proves that tfg is guilty and cognizant of breaking the law with the documents he stole.
That was 2 years ago.
And tfg is still walking around.
