I also wonder if any of those Republicans have mothers or any other relatives on SS or Medicare. PoindexterOglethorpe Oct 2022 #3
Exactly! Republicans only want power, give no thought to what would benefit the American people Rhiannon12866 Oct 2022 #4

Medicare gave millions decent medical care in old age.

Apparently, Republicans favor destitution and no health care.

The Republican goal is the elimination of Social Security, Medicare, and the entirety of our social safety net. They will do this, given the power, either by legislative fiat or by simply cutting taxes so severely the programs are no longer sustainable. The thought of elderly and poor people dying homeless, hungry, sick, and in despair is, for Republicans, a fair price to pay to keep the rich rich, and their pillaging of the resources, natural and human, of this country unhampered by any social consciousness.

As retired police detective and successful crime novelist Joseph Wambaugh once observed, the criminal mind thinks that conscience is a con. And that epitomizes the Republican mind very well.

Okay, so I am the somewhat rare person doing SS right. It is about one third of my income, as was intended from the very beginning. Savings and a pension were intended to be the other third. Which it is for me. But even if every single person on SS only needs that for one third of their income, why in the world would anyone be proposing to cut a third of the income of retired people? Why??
