(8,084 posts)Can't be trusted fully. I will say this the old guard has to die off that's the nature of life and the progressive democrats will take over more and more as long as they're willing to stay in the fight.
Also as much as the press likes to drown out what happened in 2020. 81 million came out and voted and fought against the Orange monkey and the Republican regime.
In 2016 the Orange monkey lost the popular vote by 3 million votes. In 2020 the Orange monkey lost the popular vote by 7 million votes.
And since 2000 when they 1st stole the election from the majority of the people. Republicans have been having a harder and harder time of a time of getting people to want to vote for their BS unless they have successfully gerrymandered districts to guarantee wins.
The only way we defeat them, is to remain vigilant,
not become complacent, And exercise that 1 right that they gave us that the republicans keep desperately trying to take from us. Vote vote vote vote it's how we get out of this

When Patagonia made the charity announcement, my first thought was who does he - Chouinard - support? Is he a true environmentalist? Has his company previously made any contributions to political causes? Usually when someone has a 3 billion dollar company, there are compromises made along the way. This video was informative, but didn't answer those questions - the avoidance of paying taxes puts him in a conservative corner.

(111,266 posts)Don't forget the other side of these bogus charities that were set up expressly to buy politicians, the children run them and are paid seven or eight figures a year (and that's going up) for doing absolutely nothing but having their names on the C level executive list.
It's how you give your kids the boodle without paying inheritance taxes on it. Slick, huh?
Even real foundations often go into the foundation death spiral, charitable foundations run by rich spawn giving the bare legal minimum in charitable donations to other bogus foundations run by rich spawn, round and round and round it goes, but the money never really goes anywhere but to the heirs. It's harder for me and thee to claim charitable giving these days, but it's the favorite racket for the rich and their kids.
Eventually, the whole system will become so obviously rotten that it will have to change, especially if the rules on these bogus charities change even a little bit. It won't take much, and the whole topheavy edifice will come crashing down.
In the meantime, I can say I've never bought any of this guy's products. Even when some shit worn by a model stomping down a runway was sent to Filene's Basement, it was still too expensive for me. I could look like the Michelin Man far more cheaply in someone else's down jacket, and did, so I can't honestly compare the quality that people who bought the name were paying for.

(8,084 posts)The trick is to not participate in their system.
If I find I need something in my house I generally will go to craigslist 1st.
I've been able to purchase brand new leather couches off of craigslist for about 50 bucks each for years now. And I always get the same couch black leather couch it's the only thing my children don't destroy right away. But they still eventually destroy it lol. But when you only pay 50 bucks for the couch who cares.
The only thing I will buy brand new is a cell phone. But that's only after years of buying factory refurbish phones and figuring out they still don't quite work right.
When I want furniture I'll go online I will not walk into a furniture store. And I always look for top quality, but low money. I have a beautiful king size canopy that probably should have cost about $4000. I found it on eBay 20 years ago 4 1000 bucks and free shipping.
If I want a new dining set, craigslist somebody is selling 14 about a 100 bucks.
The only thing brand new in my house is the rug on the floor I always like really wild colored rugs so I picked the one I like but I never spend more than $200.
Every car I've ever owned I've purchased used, I've kept for about 10 years. And I don't sell it I give it away because during that 10 years time I started saving up money to buy my next car. And artifically don't spend more than $10000 on a car. This last car did spend a little bit more 18000 but it's a 2011 convertible Lexus so I got what I wanted. I will drive that car forever as long as it allows me to💜
If we did little things like not participate in consumerism during Christmas time. Maybe not run to the store to buy a bunch of Christmas decorations and just use the beautiful trees and plants that we already have outside like they used to do when you go visit Williamsburg Virginia. All of the Christmas direct decorations are natural except for the candles and it's absolutely gorgeous.
There's this push to get us to constantly spend. Retreat it like oh you've got to stand in line for the latest iPhone no you don't. You gotta get the upgraded card with all the new safety features, No you don't.
You have to buy an electric car to save the environment. No you don't because all the same paints and chemicals that they use to paint a gasoline car they use for the electric car so how's it really helping the environment?
Find some space somewhere in your life to grow some of your own food even if it's one tomato plant
Is a one cucumber plant.
All we have to do to break this system, is to stop participating in I participating in it except for me absolutely need to come not when they want us to.
