👍 for Crist for having the facts on Covid death in Florida at his fingertips.
Eighty-two thousand Covid deaths is no small number of deaths just so people could go walking around without a mask, which was defascists policy. We all know this. Crist had a figure of 40,000 unnecessary deaths in Florida. If the state would have had the standard that other states had, those people would be alive.
Forty two thousand people is a small city! Yet defascist brought it up that he provided leadership during the Covid crisis.
Why yes you did, gubner. You marched those lemmings right to the sea and now you want credit for doing the right thing.

(12,558 posts)The death rate in Fl per 100k was .18 vs NY with .13 per 100k. NY had far more restrictive rules in place than FL So you simply cant say HALF wouldnt have died if things were done differently in FL.

I could probably figure out his rationale for how he came to that figure. However, right off the top of my head, it would seem that one would have to take circumstances into account. With NYs vastly more concentrated population, their policy seems to be more even more effective at .13 than .18 for Florida.
Also, if you would, please, provide a link to your figures. I would like to see what else might be taken into consideration.
Theres more to this issue and I dont think you can make a simple statement like you did without qualifying it.
I am not a mathematician but I am a professor of speech and debate so I feel perfectly ok about pronouncing defascist as looking foolish for bringing this up in the first place.
Of course the crème de la crème was when he was utterly silent about being in office for four years.

(12,558 posts)The original stat I posted was just for the past MONTH when they had been showing cumulative. Here is one from Statista, who is usually reliable, for TOTAL stats. Again the two aren't that far apart though; 373 per 100k for NY 383 for FL

And yes, that part about staying in office was hilarious. He kept asking "is it my turn?" trying to buy time to come up with an answer.

(35,689 posts)Population density is only one. There are probably many others.
Consequently, I don't think you can say that.

(12,558 posts)NYC is certainly very densely populated. But so is Tampa, Miami & Orlando. All of it factors in. But there's nobody that thinks HALF of the FL deaths could have been prevented.
