Kellyanne Conway Tries To Downplay Fight Between Trump And DeSantis - Ring of Fire

During a pre-election interview on Fox & Friends this week, Kellyanne Conway tried to pretend that there isn't really a rift between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, saying that the two are "on the same team." But that isn't what the rest of the country sees, and it certainly isn't what we've been hearing from behind the scenes between the two camps for months. Trump is about to go scorched earth against DeSantis, and Conway knows that better than anyone. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Kelly and Conway came out on Fox and Friends on Monday again the day before the midterm elections, to try to put the entire Republican party at peace to let them know that hey, there really isn't any kind of feud between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis. They're on the same team. She tells us here is what Kelly Ann told the good folks over at that Fox and Friends couch, they're on the same team and Governor DeSantis probably knows and appreciates and is grateful for the fact that it was President Trump in 2018 in that primary, when DeSantis was at 3% or so against Adam Putnam, President Trump endorsed him in the primary. He won the primary and then he kept going back to Florida to campaign for him, including the day or two before election day. He won by 32,000 votes. He's got a lot of time.

They're on the same team. So you began and ended your thought with the exact same sentence that that takes skill. Like they're on the same team, They're on the same team. It's like a high school kid just finally learning how to write an essay for the first time and they just repeat their opening thought cuz they don't know how to end it. That is what Kelly and Conway did right there with that statement. But what she also did was kind of send a shot to Ron DeSantis letting him know that, hey, you guys are on the same team and Trump really did create you. You wouldn't be where you are without him. So suck it up and deal with the attacks that he levels cause he doesn't really mean him. He likes you. You're on the same team.

That was Monday. Obviously things have changed a little bit since then. Ron DeSantis, after winning by 32,000 votes in 2018, won by more than 1.5 million votes on Tuesday. Ron DeSantis proved in yesterday's midterm elections that he doesn't need Trump, he doesn't need him at all. Trump, on the other hand, fell flat in most of the races where he had endorsed a candidate. Trump is struggling, DeSantis is rising. So I wonder if Kellyanne would like to amend her statement Now, instead of kind of taking those veiled shots at DeSantis saying Trump created you, maybe you gotta be nicer. Maybe now Kellyanne needs to start sucking up to Ron DeSantis begging him to not go against Donald Trump. Right? I mean, things aren't looking good for Donald. And right now Ron DeSantis is riding a huge red wave that only exists in the state of Florida, thank God.

But he thinks that wave could sweep across the country. And if you don't think that Ron DeSantis woke up this morning thinking about what he's gonna do in 2024 with a 1.5 million vote, lead over his Democratic rival, Charlie Christ, then you are kidding yourselves. Ron DeSantis is now safe. If he runs for president in 2024 and doesn't get it, guess what? He gets to come back and be governor of Florida for two more years after that. So he's still got a job. He has nothing to lose. He is term limited in the state of Florida. He cannot run for a third consecutive term. So it's all or nothing, right Ron? He got all the votes, Trump got all the losses. Republicans are blaming Trump for those losses. So again, Kelly in, you may wanna amend your statement a little bit. You may be sucking up to the wrong person because Trump is yesterday's news and unfortunately it looks like DeSantis is in fact the future of the Republican.
