- Inequality Media, (2022). Private equity firms are privately owned financial organizations. Shady investors are rigging the economy to get rich by making your life more expensive. PE firms have their tentacles in so many industries that they touch almost every part of your life.

- Housing: private equity- backed real estate corporations are buying up private homes and rental properties. This drives up rents and shuts out millions of people from buying their own home.

- Healthcare: private equity ownership has exploded in the last 2 decades by buying up hospitals, emergency room staff, physician staffing firms (private equity doctors) and nursing homes. The result is higher costs and lower quality care.

- Why isn't the growth of private equity front page news? Hedge funds and private equity own half of the nation's daily newspapers. One quarter of US newspapers, about 2,000 publications have shut down in the last decade and a half, & subscription prices have increased.

What can be done? Close the favorite financial loophole of private equity. It's past time for Congress to rein in this predatory industry.
