Trump Investigation In Georgia Could See Major Developments Soon - Ring of Fire

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is having a tough time nailing down all of the people involved in the fake elector scheme in Georgia, so reports say that she could be trying a new tactic soon: Offering immunity to the fake electors themselves. Many of them are facing both federal and state charges - if they are pursued - and that could be the only that some of them spill the secrets about what happened and what Donald Trump knew about it all. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

For about a month and a half prior to the midterms, Fulton County District Attorney Fannie Willis, who is investigating Donald Trump in his little scheme to overturn the Georgia election results. Fannie Willis had said about a month and a half before the midterms, we're going dark. We're still gonna be doing our work, but we're not making any announcements. We're not throwing out any new subpoenas. We're just gonna keep going. We don't want to give the impression that we're interfering in any way with elections in Georgia or elections across the country. So we're just gonna be quiet. Well, the midterms are over. Now we know the results with the exception of that runoff in Georgia, which may complicate things because that's the only one that still has to vote now. But big things are on the horizon in the state of Georgia because Fanny Willis has also said she wants to have this thing wrapped up by the end of the year.

So yikes, you better get moving because things are moving very quickly now towards the end of December. But she also has hit a couple roadblocks, unfortunately. And the roadblock is that most of the fake electors that she has subpoenaed and that have come and talked to her, 16 of them total, most of them, by the way, all being represented by the same group of lawyers, of course, most of them have pleaded the fifth. They have gone in there and said, I'm not gonna tell you anything. I'm not gonna talk. I'm not gonna give any information. I don't want to do anything. I'm gonna incriminate myself if I say a word. So I plead the fifth, fifth, fifth, fifth, fifth. That's a pretty big roadblock. Those fake electors are the key to unlocking all of the players involved. Those fake electors are the ones who know who reached out to them, right?

It. It's not that these are the people you want to get, it's that those are the nuts you have to crack in order to find out what else is in there. And they're not talking. But a new report this week says that Fannie Willis, who again has hit this roadblock, says, all right, I got an idea. I think I'm gonna offer these people immunity. Don't worry about incriminating yourself because I will sign a document saying, under no circumstances are we gonna prosecute you. Because the other side of the coin is that most of these fake electors, according to Willis, could be facing both, uh, state and federal charges. So incriminating yourself or not, and testimony doesn't really matter when they already have enough information to charge you with crimes. None of them have been charged yet, but Willis has made it clear like the evidence is here, we can do it if we want. So now she's considering offering these people immunity to see if they'll finally flip. And I do think that's a good idea, right? The fake electors, okay, yes, it's bad. Yes, it's terrible, but they're not like the real bad guys here, okay? They're almost kind of like the henchman working for the evil overlord. And you gotta take down the overlord. You gotta take down the people in charge.

Those are the ones we have to get. So if it means a couple of these small guys don't go to jail, I'm okay with that. If it means we can take down the higher ups, and that's the part that Fannie Willis is at now, she's gonna have to make that decision. And again, if she wants to have it wrapped by the end of the year, she's gonna have to make that decision really quick because time is running out for a lot of these investigations.
