During an interview with Steve Bannon over the weekend, Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed that both Melania Trump and her husband were "sick" over the fact that Capitol Rioters are behind bars. Greene went on to once again claim that these people were somehow being persecuted for their political beliefs, a statement that is torn apart by the charges that they are facing. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

During an interview with Steve Bannon over the weekend, Marjorie Taylor Green said that Melania Trump, and of course her husband Donald, are just sick. They're just so sick over what is happening to those poor capital rioters languishing away in prison for storming the capital. Here is the full statement from Representative Marjorie Taylor Green, not only defending Trump, but of course defending the people arrested for storming the capital. Here it is. I thought this is ridiculous. They're lying about him. Okay, first of all, I gotta give you a little backstory here. My apologies. You see Fuentes, when he met with Donald Trump last week, criticized him for not pardoning the January 6th, uh, capital rioters. So Marjorie Taylor Green, of course, wants to run interference for Trump. So here it is. I thought this is ridiculous. They're lying about him. People are lying about him. The very idea that he could have pardoned all the January 6th defendants before he left the White House on January 20th is impossible because the high majority of those people weren't even arrested until after he left office.
And he didn't even know them. He had no idea who they are. He doesn't know who they are still. He had nothing to do with what they did on January 6th. Um, so it would have been impossible for him to magically know how to find these people and pardon them. President Trump and Melania were both just sick over what they learned. And he said over and over that he will, he will pardon the January 6th defendants. This is real political persecution and it shouldn't be happening in America. And so the criticism on President Trump is ridiculous. I love how you say he had nothing to do with what they did on January 6th, and then you're saying it's political persecution. No, because you just admitted as part of your statement, like they did something on January 6th, and when Trump learned about it, he was just sick to his stomach.
Melania, oh my God, she's so concerned about the wellbeing of other people because that definitely fits in with what we know about Melania Trump. The I don't really care. Do you lady suddenly has empathy for the people who stormed the capital and are rightfully being prosecuted for it. Now, Marjorie Taylor Green has basically made this her pet project over the last two years. She has stood up for these capital rioters, defended this horrendous action that we saw them do that day. She has gone to the prisons, tried to talk to these people. She has tried to convince the public that, oh, they're being tortured, they're being horribly treated in these prisons. None of which is true, none of which is true. There is absolutely zero evidence to back up a single thing that she has said about any of these individuals. And the judges in many instances have actually pointed that out.

I would thinK Trump could have made a public statement instructing everyone in the capitol buIldiNg or on the grounds on January 6 to send their ID information to him so he could issue each a pardon before he left office. He chose to not pardon his followers.

Kevin D. Greeson died of a heart attack, collapsing on the sidewalk west of the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Rosanne Boyland appeared to have been crushed in a stampede of fellow rioters as they surged against the police.
Benjamin Philips, the founder of a pro-Trump website called Trumparoo, died of a stroke.
Mr. Greeson and Mr. Philips died of natural causes, the Washington medical examiner said in April. He added that Ms. Boylands death was caused by an accidental overdose.
In the days and weeks after the riot, five police officers who had served at the Capitol on Jan. 6 died.
Officer Brian D. Sicknick of the Capitol Police, who was attacked by the mob, died on Jan. 7.
Officer Jeffrey Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department killed himself after the attack.
Officer Howard S. Liebengood of the Capitol Police also died by suicide four days afterward.
The Capitol Police had previously said that Officer Sicknick died from injuries sustained while physically engaging with protesters. The Washington medical examiner later ruled that he had died of natural causes: multiple strokes that occurred hours after Officer Sicknicks confrontation with the mob. The medical examiner added, however, that all that transpired played a role in his condition.
