Satellite images show close to two dozen long-range bombers and cruise missiles being prepared for combat at the Engels-Two airfield, near Saratov Oblast in Russia. Ukraine military officials assume they will be used to increase strikes on ground targets.

(6,911 posts)You must remove the threat from these aging bombers by destroying airfields and equipment. Russians want to make it a war of civilian casualties, take away their weapons before they use them on innocent non-combatants. Thats what terrorists do.

(12,530 posts)Sure would be nice to see that airfield with several charred aircraft
Or give UKR the ability to shoot them down before they can launch their missiles. Russia has been inept at pretty much everything so far, why should Air Force protection be any different

(70,489 posts)We have the satellite/radar technology to tell when those planes take off and either by attack aircraft
and or anti aircraft missiles it now should be "if it flies it dies." And those airports should be taken
out too.

(70,489 posts).... U.S. and they would fly to the mid east or Afghanistan to attack targets we should get the Ukrainians some of those
because that country can no longer let Vlad launch attacks from Russia in order to kill, freeze, starve, or deny water to
the people of Ukraine. The people of Russia have to kill Putin to put an end to this war too.

(17,528 posts)Russia can wage war on Ukraine, but Ukraine is forbidden from waging war on Russia. I do not believe that that policy is sustainable in the long run. Russia is attempting to do what we failed at in Viet Nam when we tried to bomb the North "back to the stone age" and they are doing it with impunity. Any base that launches strikes against Ukraine should be fair targets for Ukrainian missiles or bombers. Putin is attempting the same thing we did in the bombing of N. Vietnam; a policy of bombing them back to the stone age. Sooner or later the West will have to call Putin's bluff, or watch Ukraine's ability to resist destroyed.
I wonder if our real strategy is just to prolong the war as long as possible for the benefit of those who sell the weapons of death. A lot of Americans are making a lot of money off of this war, the longer it goes on, the more money that rolls in.
