One of the many damaging effects of the Trump presidency was the fact that all of our human intelligence resources--especially in Russia--must have worried that their identity might be compromised by our Buffoon-in-Chief. I suspect that the fact that our political system enabled an outright Russian asset to gain the White House must give anyone considering identifying themselves to our government pause.

And the damage is ongoing. What, for instance, was contained in the classified materials Trump stole when he left office, and who has he allowed to see them?

If I were a Russian considering this course of action, I'd go to French or German or Swedish intelligence before I'd trust the US intelligence community to keep me safe.
