(2,062 posts)As the Water Protectors made abundantly clear at the Standing Rock oil pipeline protests a few years back as well. We can't drink oil, but we can, and need to, drink water. We need to breathe clean air and we need to drink pure water.

(204,789 posts)It's just not that hard to fathom. And you're right, we need to listen to the protesters who are bringing the truth to the attention of the nation. We're already in trouble and we need to take action if it isn't already too late.

(204,789 posts)I'm about as far from New York City as you can get in New York and I could detect a haze even up here - and we heard that Albany was worse. That's about an hour south and I was just there Thursday. This is affecting a portion of the country.

(28,117 posts)My son who lives just 2 blocks south of Central Park, worked from his apt yesterday and will tomorrow (today) but his g.f. is coming over tomorrow and bringing her doggie and that means walks.
Good thing most folks have kept their N-95's.

(204,789 posts)I actually have asthma, but that wasn't really what was bothering me the most, my eyes were burning. And I'm nowhere near the city, plus it started raining today, but I was running the roads all afternoon.
Good luck with the doggie! And what sort of masks to we have for them? My neighborhood is full of dogs who need walkies.

(28,117 posts)Pups need cleaner air too. Wonder if they could/would keep an N-95 on?
I imagine they'll be out only long enough for the pup to do its business.
Glad it's going to rain where you are; rain cleans the air.
Just checked - there's none predicted for the Big Apple.

(204,789 posts)So just going out to do his business is the best option if it's bad out. And it is supposed to rain here off and on for the past couple of days. Figures, since I went to the cemetery today and didn't just water my own flowers, but all those around me, too - I always spend too much time there watering all the flowers.

(204,789 posts)It's a fairly new section so there are a lot of flowers and I feel obligated to water them all
