About 6 years ago I got a letter from the IRS Asking for more data. I panicked. I had sent them a rather small check in my original filing. I sent what they had requested. About 6 months later I got another letter from the IRS. This one with a letter explaining their recalculation and an enclosed relatively large refund with interest. It’s not that hard to do the right thing. The IRS is another government agency I have a great deal of respect for.
