I also hear that he's being treated differently because he is a former president.
In my mind - because he is a former president - he should be treated more harshly than the man on the street or some other lower level government official that committed similar crimes.
For God's sake - he was the leader of our country and he betrayed his oath to office. He should be made an example - just because of who he is and what he did - made an example of. Nobody is above the law - even a former president.

(203,041 posts)Not to mention, for the rest of the world! Yet this one has been a constant embarrassment. And what's been the most frustrating has been while we've seen hundreds of the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol on his instructions identified, charged, tried, convicted and jailed - while their "leader" continued to walk free - to spread more of his lies. It's long past time that he faced the same charges.

(203,041 posts)I think of that case often since something similar happened to me. I had stopped at the bank before I bought gas and after I returned to my car, the female cashier at the gas station followed me out, holding the $20 I'd just given her and asked if I had another one. So I traded bills with her and went on my way. I asked a friend later and it turns out that the bill I'd used was from 1950(!) and didn't have the right markings. And the difference was that the store clerk knew me, I go there regularly - and we're both blonde women.
