Related: About this forumThom Hartmann: How dare someone speak up about gun violence in America!
Neil McCabe, Human Events Online, joins Thom Hartmann. Well - that's exactly what NBC Sports commentator Bob Costas did during Sunday's broadcast of Sunday Night Football. Costas was addressing the tragic murder-suicide involving Kansas City Chiefs player Javon Belcher. Here's what Costas didn't say He didn't say the government should take away people's guns. He didn't say we should repeal the 2nd Amendment. And he didn't call for limits on gun ownership. Still - the conservative media and blogosphere lit up with fiery outrage towards Costas and Fox So-Called News is still talking about it today. So - have we really come to a point in this country where uttering the word "gun" is akin to screaming out the F word for all to hear?

(20,899 posts)1. Were the American people as passionate about their other rights enumerated in the Bill
of Rights as the the NRA types are about their Second Amendment rights, maybe a little balance, reason, and rationality would emerge.

Can you spell B-a-n-k-r-u-p-t? As in mentally bankrupt? We all should pack loaded heat when we're with the one we love. Yeah!

But of course he believes in the right to keep and bear arms. Of course.
Decrying access to guns is not supposed to imply, in any way, that people should not have access to guns. That's just paranoid.
"In the coming days, Jovan Belcher's actions and their possible connection to football will be analyzed. Who knows? But here, wrote Jason Whitlock, is what I believe. If Jovan Belcher didn't possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today."
