Stewart And Chris Christie Clash: GOP Only Wants Government Assistance When It Benefits Them

VIDEO here: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/stewart-and-chris-christie-clash-gop-only-wants-government-assistance-when-it-benefits-them/

New Jersey governor Chris Christie sat down with Jon Stewart to talk about the continuing relief efforts going on in New Jersey following Hurricane Sandy, but they also managed to hit on the politics surrounding the hurricane relief, Christie’s relationship with President Obama, his decision to and, of course, how much they both love Bruce Springsteen. -snip-

He's totally personable, is humorously self-deprecating. He's someone, unlike the Romneys, who can connect with most people in the US electorate. I think he's got a good shot at President if he wants it.

from showing it.

As a governor, he looks out for the people in his state when there is the danger that if he didn't do so, he would be viewed as not doing a good job.

But when it comes to caring for people who need health care and can't afford it or can't get it, well it won't make him look bad if they don't get that insurance so he finds every excuse in the book to pass the responsibility for getting insurance for people without healthcare to the federal government.

Christie's warmth and compassion is superficial and self-centered. He appears to me to be more about show than real love. I have seen him be so insulting to people that it was disgusting.

Superficial concern and compassion for people when the TV cameras are rolling. Fucking those in need through vetoing legislation that might help, killing unions and privatizing anything you can while no one is looking. Yep, he's a Republican.

I've often said that if you show me a Republican acting with compassion on an issue, you can be assured that that Republican or a family member stands to gain personally.
