...China and India are both big players in international economics, finance and trade, and anything that disrupts their economies will adversely effect much of the rest of the world, including the US.

This conflict presents some interesting dynamics, and almost certainly will completely isolate China. Territorial claims Chinese bullying will cause all of China's immediate neighbors to side against China (excepting only North Korea). While Russia and China have joined together in the past few years to oppose US hegemony in world affairs, Russia supplies much of India's military hardware, and have longstanding ties to the Indian Military, and government. Russia will almost certainly back India. The US has several reasons to side with India, and oppose China.

China's imperialistic ambitions and territorial claims have reached a no win situation for them.
