New Hampshire plans to hold first Democratic primary in defiance of party wishes - NBC News

New Hampshire leaders are planning to hold the first Democratic primary, which may leave President Biden off of the ballot as Democrats pine for the primary to take place in South Carolina. Biden has pledged to only participate in primaries sanctioned by his national party.

They know perfectly well that their population is not very representative of the demographics of the members of Democratic party. I'm not saying they're being racist.

The AG. Just like Iowa, which has a similar statute requiring their caucuses to be held before the first primary. The Republicans aren’t going to do anything because the DNC wants something different.

I mean, in 2020, he took 5th place in that primary. He got what, around 8% of the vote then?

Of the four people that "beat" him vote-wise back in 2020...

One has already endorsed him (Bernie Sanders)

One is working in his cabinet (Pete Buttigieg)

One has all but publicly endorsed him, making public statements about how great he is (Elizabeth Warren)

Ms. Klobuchar has expressed public support for Biden after his UN Speech and his named continued Ukraine support.

It is extremely doubtful any of them would be willing to go against Joe in the primary.

So, if Biden's name is left off... what does that leave Democratic voters in the state with, and how telling will it be when Biden is the de-facto nominee later?

I wouldn't be surprised if Biden gets more write-in votes than any "named" Democratic candidate on the primary ballot. New Hampshire will only end up making itself 'worthless' as a predictor, by going this route.
