Democrats across the country got to see what it means to be a leader when Wisconsin's Democratic governor, Tony Evers, showed up at a state legislature hearing to not only testify against anti-LGBTQ legislation, but to let Congress know that he'll veto anything they send to him that attacks this group of people. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, a Democrat, showed the entire Democratic Party what solidarity and leadership means. Here's what happened. Tony Evers, again, democratic governor of Wisconsin, Wisconsin, a valuable swing state here in the nation. His legislature was holding a hearing, a public hearing on three different anti L G B T Q pieces of legislation working their way through the State House. Uh, the three bills, one would prohibit them from accessing gender affirming care and punish doctors who provide it. So Tony Evers the governor of the state, knowing that you've got all these allies of the L G B T Q community and the community itself down there willing and waiting to testify and make their voices heard about this anti L G B T Q legislation, he marches himself down there.

He goes into the State House, he testifies against the legislation. He then starts meeting in rooms with all of the different activists there who are also, you know, trying to speak out against the legislation. He says this, you've got my support on all of these. We're gonna veto every single one of them. The only way we can do that is to continue to be strong. Just like everyone in this room, I'm just here to thank you and I know you're here because you're off and you wanna stop it and you will stop it and I'll help you stop it. I'm with you.

That, that phrase, the passion, the genuine concern, which is where the passion comes from. That's leadership. That is leadership that is sorely lacking at the very top of this Democratic Party. How many other democratic governors, democratic lawmakers have you seen do something like this? We all know the answer. Oh, sure. Biden went out and he joined the picket line and hey, that was great. It was, you know, first was awesome. Bernie Sanders, huge union guy. A o c has as well. Other members of the squad have taken a stand against unhoused individuals here in the United States by sleeping on the steps of the capitol. And those are great moves. They have spoken out in, in, in solidarity with the L G B T Q community. But on the state level, we've never seen anything like this. And this governor knows he's in a swing state coming out and supporting these people he knows could cost him his job. But this wasn't about his job. This wasn't about politics. This wasn't about him even showing up there, trying to usurp the movement and saying, I will lead you. He said, I'm with you. I'm here for you. I'm, I'm gonna help you.

He didn't try to take control. He didn't try to take over, he didn't try to make himself the hero. He basically said, whatever you need, I'm here and I'm going to help. That is what a leader does. This is what the Democratic party needs. And this kind of leadership, this kind of solidarity, this kind of taking a stand on such a hot button issue with the, you know, swing voters in a swing state. This guy needs to run for president.
