Yonatan Zeigen’s mother, Vivian Silver, is likely among those kidnapped by Hamas from her Kibbutz. A lifelong peace activist, Silver would help civilian cancer patients in Gaza cross the border to get treatment in Israel.

Ali Velshi spoke with Zeigen, who believes his mother would continue to advocate for peace. He says, "Vengeance is not a strategy." - Aired on 10/13/2023.

1. The question is how do you negotiate for peace with a group, (Hamas), whose charter explicitly calls

for the killing of all Jews?

2. You can't. In other countries murderers are consigned to prison.

3. how many people are members of Hamas? From what I understand it is quite sizable, and how do you

go about capturing them?

4. I know that some of them have been captured by the IDF.

But it is a very dangerous uphill battle. Meanwhile, they go on defending themselves from the ongoing attacks.

6. I agree, this is as bad as it gets.

This is a brutal war and innocent civilians are caught in the middle. Hamas continues to target Israeli civilian targets and the Palestinians in Gaza were told to evacuate, but they have nowhere to go.

And do what you can to change it WITHOUT VIOLENCE. But, some people don’t believe in non-violence. They fail to understand that violence only promotes more violence.
I guess it is good for the weapons manufacturers that on both sides. Their business gets better and better the more violence.
