it stops nothing. We have had officers and metal detectors in our schools for years. Still, there have shootings and stabbings inside our schools here in Philadelphia. To arm more people only increases the possibility of one them losing it and shooting the place up. Wake up, people. Track the guns and the unstable.

We should have armed guards everywhere, right? or am I missing something.....? Mall shooting? Armed guards. Movie theater? Armed guards. Restaurants? Armed guards. More guns. Neighborhoods? Armed guards. More guns.

I am not looking at this as a slippery slope argument here. There's no speculation or bogeyman.

This is their argument:
"If only there were a gun in that ____________ (insert location here) this wouldn't have happened."

What shooting related circumstance or location would not get this answer from these people?!
What would the USA look like if this WAS the answer for all the gun killings?

This is their answer. The NRA solution is... Armed guards.

This is pretty sick stuff.

Do you oppose the President's proposed changes to gun law? If not, you have no reason to take offense. If you do . . .well, I can't say what you would deserve without violating TOS.

If you have spent more that a couple of minutes on this site or reading the newspaper in the past month, you would know gun owners are not the problem. Most gun owners support restrictions like an assault weapons ban, but if you prefer to identify with the lunatic right, that is your choice.

I made quite clear my post was not directed against gun openers but gunners--a term used here on DU to describe those who opposes any increased restrictions on guns. If that describes you, I am the least of your problems.

Gun nuts by using the term gunners instead. I'll default back to the more accurate terminology.

How many armed guards will we need in each classroom? Remember, a half dozen armed and trained Secret Service Agents and D.C. policemen standing within ten feet of Ronald Reagan could not prevent him being shot and nearly killed by a deranged, lone assassin with a single hand gun.

and the worst of the bullies.

The concept is if you make something a harder target, the bad guys will go elsewhere. While it has some validity, it clearly does not always work. I can see better structural features, but armed guards are not a viable solution for me.

More guns, more dead children. But most importantly more gun sales. Dead kids are great for gun sales, and that is all the NRA cares about.
