(840 posts)She so much more personable than Callista or Ann, who seem like stepford wives

(14,157 posts)On the way down she stopped short of doing a correct push-up. Ellen had a little better form, put she too should have went down a little further. Both would have failed a Military Physical Fitness Test.

(731 posts)The PTL would have told her to go down further to break the 90 deg. plane. T
She did about 25 in the video, and if she could do that many PROPERLY, she'd have scored an 8.6/10 in her age catagory
(or at least she would in the AF)

(14,157 posts)Yes, I am sure she would have passed when you put it that way.

(20,453 posts)Michelle didn't necessarily go down as far, but she maintained a straight back, which Ellen has having trouble doing.
Michelle demonstrated a better use of her core stabilization.
Ha!

(14,020 posts)She is the wife of the Commander-in-Chief of the US military...
She has been a tireless promoter of better health and fitness for kids in America...
She and Jill Biden have done more to improve the lot of military families than many others...
But you criticize the First Lady for doing 'girl' pushups, that wouldn't cut it in boot camp.

(14,157 posts)I said they weren't considered proper push-ups.
Proper form:
I have seen many men do them incorrectly. I am not getting why you are so bent out of shape for me pointing out they were not proper form. I think you need to step back and not take words out of context and put words into people's mouths.

(4,982 posts)I just saw them challenge each other on how many pushups each of them could do (no specifications as to what kind/caliber/style, etc.)
So applying a "military" standard to the situation may be convenient for having a reason to criticize, but in this case, "military" style push-ups were not specified, so it's kinda irrelevant because that wasn't the original agreement. It was just "pushups", not "pushups that would pass a military fitness test".

(5,023 posts)I was expecting a real competition. This is not something I could post on Facebook for my Republican father in law to see, because he would say Michelle was cheating.
But Ellen asked Michelle to compete, so I'd give Michelle some slack for an impromptu contest.

Our First Lady is amazing!
