A great president, infact. Arguably the best president of the 20th century a long with Lyndon B. Johnson and FDR, but sadly, not many people still talk about Eisenhower. He should, no doubt, be a model for the Democratic Party.

desegregated the Armed Forces, the District of Columbia and openly confronted the States' Rightists governors who refused to obey desegregation orders handed down by the USSC pursuant to Brown vs. Board of Education. Republicans today want to diminish the power of the federal government over the States. Eisenhower took the extraordinary step of sending U.S. troops, the 101st Airborne, into Little Rock to protect black students. If Obama sent the U.S. military into a State today to enforce a federal judge's order, the Republicans would be carrying out their many threats to secede.

national office today: that big money corrupts and corrupts absolutely, thus assuring the Koch brothers and their ilk will get most of what they want at the detriment of the 99% is thus assured, making a mockery of our founding principles.

FDR was a liberal, Henry Wallace, who got fucked out of the 1944 VP spot when it mattered, was a liberal. Ike was a conservative of the old style. Just because he seems reasonable compared to the fucking maniacs that are Republicans today and the Reaganites that are Democrats today does not make him a liberal. Ike would have slapped you if you called him a liberal.

Nixon is liberal compared to today's republicans and democrats but he too, was no liberal.

Asshole Reagan would be considered way too liberal today for the crazies.

The pendulum swung to the right and has stayed there for forty years so far.
