Has your companion animal ever been fat shamed?

Couple of months back I was walking the dog and a passer-by who stopped to pet her asked if she was pregnant...

All I could do was smile through my teeth and take it since I was in polite company...

(before anyone asks, yes my dog is overweight but that's besides the point)

I pointed out that he (the cat, not the friend) has quite a lot of fur so he looks "larger" than he really is. However, he weighs 16 lbs. so it's heavy fur. The cat didn't care because he was getting petted.

"Why is Charlie so fat?" In front of him! He really didn't let it bother him as long as she would play red dot with him.

He's about 15 pounds and is a big boy, but he's solid and not fat. I dutifully point that out. His response is to level a regal glare at whoever spouts such nonsense, yawn and stretch luxuriantly, then saunter off to survey his domain.

He is, after all, "Crown Prince, Defender of the Castle and Guardian of the Realm," and his behavior is always dignified (unless catnip is involved).

This isn't him, but looks just like him.

He's a German shepherd/mastiff cross with arthritis in his front legs and mild hip dysplasia. At 105 pounds, he's at a great weight. He could easily pack on another 10 or 20 pounds and still look healthy, but it would be even harder on his achy joints.
