I read this in Reader's Digest years ago.
A guy was working in his backyard and noticed his dog was playing with something. He went to look and saw it was a dead rabbit and recognized the rabbit as being his neighbor's pet. Thinking his dog somehow got the rabbit out of its cage and killed it and not wanting to get his dog in trouble, the man took the dead rabbit into his home, washed it and blowed dried the body. That night, under the cover of darkness, the man sneaked into his neighbor's backyard and put the dead rabbit back into its cage hoping his neighbors would think the rabbit died of natural causes.
The next day the man saw there was a police car at his neighbors. Curious, he went out to the police car and when the police officer came out of his neighbors home and walked to his car, the guy asked him as to what was going on. The police officer said "This family's pet rabbit had died and they buried it in the back yard but some sick-o dug it up and put it back into its cage.".

(17,742 posts)had the guy go to the pet store and buy a live rabbit and put it in the cage, which *really* freaked the neighbor out, thinking it had resurrected. Maybe a good Easter story.
