No snow in Michigan yet...

At least in the Grand Rapids area, I lived in Colorado from 1992 to 2013, sunshine in abundance, a blizzard may last 3 to 4 days, on that 5th day when it ends, you will enjoy sunshine, warm weather, T-Shirt and shorts Miss that Colorado sunshine.

So, there was snow already. But it got up to 59 on Thursday and no snow in the forecast.

I worry that this year's winter is going to be one of those horrible ones, with lots of snow. We haven't had one like that for a few years. But there's no El Niño/La Niña this year, so I expect the weather patterns will be more like they used to be, snow up to our keesters.

Here in the Manistee National Forest we're used to snow. I have come to hate it. That and sub-zero January and February. Hunker down at home. At least I am far enough from Lake Michigan that lake effect snow isn't much of an issue, about 50 miles makes a big difference.

We've had some snow off and on, but the last few days have been balmy. Were you here for the "big one" on St. Patrick's Day in '02? I have pictures of my husband in a jeans and t-shirt digging snow from our driveway. Some of the snow banks were 6' high. But when the sun finally came out, it was like you said--sunny and almost warm.

I remember ( I think ), 1997 ? I lived on 17th ave at Detroit St, cars all along 17th Avenue stranded, had to walk to Colfax 7-11 to get staples. I remember a big one in early 2000's, I was house/ pet sitting in Golden, we got dumped on, no phone, internet, heat or electric. Had to shovel and I mean shovel a path for the dog to go potty, maybe that was the time? First time I ever saw blue snow ! I was tan year around in Colorado and never had to lay in the sun.

When I lived in Colorado, I would call back home to Michigan and say " I am in shorts and a T shirt, in November, December, sometimes January and definitely February.

Lots of shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops out yesterday.

36 degrees now with high of 44. Might need my jacket.
