Actually just the 3 smallest toes on my right foot hurt, as if I've been wearing shoes that are too tight. But the shoes I wear most of the time are fairly soft well fitting shoes from LLBean. Suddenly the right shoe feels too tight. I'm not sick, I'm not pregnant, and I don't have an injury. I usually walk 4-5 miles per day and I've been doing that for 2 years.
The foot that hurts doesn't appear the least bit swollen. I have been looking online for all the things that can happen to your feet from running and this doesn't seem like any of them. Seems like my foot became bigger or my shoe became smaller... enough to make it really uncomfortable. I am thinking of wearing bedroom slippers to work tomorrow.
I don't know what to do. Ice water? Hot water? It seems like my feet will be 2 different sizes if I get bigger shoes - and I don't know whether to go wider or longer.
Any ideas?

(65,490 posts)It could be nothing at all, but you should see a doctor.
Your GP might refer you to a neurologist. You'd be surprised at how much of a agriculture's diagnostic process involves the feet.
When my daughter did her third-year rotation in med school, she hated her neurology rotation because feet kind of gross her out. Not blood, not pus, not any other aspect of medicine--but feet bother her, and during her neurology rotation she was handling and examining feet all the time.

Took me years to figure this out, plus our feet flatten as we grow older.

(38,328 posts)I know why my feet hurt.
The difficult question for me is, what am I going to do about it?

(7,813 posts)Or you may have just strained that foot more than usual. Feet take a lot of pounding and they may not complain about it until later.
Good luck!

(17,048 posts)that fits you correctly for the right type of shoe. I am an RN on and my feet all day long. I got properly fit with NAOT clogs. I have a slightly smaller size and width between feet. I also needed more arch support on my right foot.
My shoes were expensive but I could literally run a marathon in them and they last! I just got a new pair fitted after having my last pair for two years worn daily!

(2,596 posts)with, Morton's Neuroma, pinched nerves in the ball of the foot that causes severe pain in the toes. A podiatriast can verify if that is the case.
I'm struggling with that now and can only wear rubber flipflops; don't know what I'lll do in the snow!
Good luck, hope it isn't what I have because it is very painful.
