I live in PA, just north of the DE line. I heard a weird rattling of the window and side of the house. I thought, damn, the squirrels are getting really huge, now!

Thanks for the heads up. An earthquake is less frightening.

An earthquake centered 6 miles east-northeast of Dover, Delaware, hit the Mid-Atlantic region late Thursday afternoon, shaking buildings and people, but causing no immediate apparent damage.

It was the biggest tremor to strike the East Coast in six years.

The moderate earthquake, which the U.S. Geological Survey measured at a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale, was felt by residents in New Jersey, including the Jersey Shore. Social media users in several states reported feeling the quake. It was also felt in New York City.

Workers in Atlantic City reported feeling their offices shake around 4:47 p.m.
