Walking Dead prediction.

Okay, so it seems we lost much of the fan base because long-time characters were killed off and the show settled into a predictable formula: Enemy Du Jour appears, kill him and move to the next scene were another Enemy Du Jour appears. Repeat.

So, here is what might really up the show's watchability.

Remember Eugene's mission to go to Washington because he has a cure for the virus? What if there is hope for a cure? What if Gabriel's infection is that one in a billion human occurrence where someone is given a weakened, live virus and they create antibodies that protect them from turning into a zombie? It just needs tweaking before they can convert it to a full cure to the masses? It would make all the sense in the world that someone has to jet over to the west coast with the news, which is why Morgan has a good reason to leave in one of those military copters.

1. Interesting. When I saw previews showing downed tree in road with Maggie & Jesus....

all I could think is oh, no, not again. And frankly the thought they were going to do another grisly campfire death scene of a favored character at he hands of the Saviors had me thinking I didn't even want to watch.

Your theory would surely be more interesting

2. That's an excellent theory. When I saw that helicopter fly over, I said to myself, "Hmm,

there's a plot shaker-upper."

It is about time something happens that makes the show go in a radical new direction. I like your idea.

I kind of gave up on the comics after All Out War when the Whisperers appeared - just seemed more of the same, just human bad guys who are permanently covered in zombie guts. part of the problem with the genre is that you have two enemies - the zombies/walkers and then human enemy group of the season. I also liked the comics more because they didn't seem to have the unlimited ammo hack unlocked - bullets were rare. The initial Saviors attack on Alexandria was the Saviors armed with axes, swords, spears, clubs, etc and not guns, but the Saviors still "won" the battle because of superior numbers and better strategy. I'd find that more interesting than the endless noise of automatic weapons.

I know Kirkman says there is no cure, but maybe if it's not a cure, they at least find a vaccine so if you do get bitten you don't turn, and if you die, you don't reanimate?

I think part of the show's problem is that Scott Gimple is not a great showrunner - the first half of Season 6 was pretty gimmicky with the first 5-6 episodes being the same story told from different perspectives, and that is sort of how Season 8 has started as well - several perspectives of the attack on the Sanctuary. he seems to be more about stringing it along until the next gimmick or the next comic book moment can be sprung on the audience.

i.e. they claimed that there would be no cross-over with FTWD and, yet, here we are.

I agree, the story can be told better.

5. Actually, the predictable formula is having untouchable long-time fan-favorite characters...

...doing stupid shit that they wouldn't do if they had actually survived this long in the Zombie Apocalypse.

What the fuck, Rick, you all-of-a-sudden fucking moron.

Spoiling Dead Fans had a mysterious post that said it was not due to any sort of legal action from AMC or anything...

However, I heard through the grapevine that a major player dies on Sunday - and, Eugene and Gabriel are not major, in my eyes. This is somebody still alive in the comics that dies.

This is from their site:

Now that we have your attention, buttercups... After careful consideration we have decided that we will not be providing a Q&A or any spoilery bits this week.

AMC has been hyping a very shocking moment that will occur in this episode. I think most of us know this almost certainly means death. We invite you to draw your own conclusions on what will happen. Review the spoiler journal, filming and discussion threads, and take what bits you can and try to put the pieces together.

We have our reasons for doing this which we’ll share after the episode. No, it has nothing to do with any legal matters. We will not be answering any questions about episode 8 from this point on. Sorry buttercups, but bribes of liquor and pancakes will not change our minds. We know this is disappointing for thousands of people that depend on us, and we fully expect some backlash. We're ready to take the heat.

For now, this is How It's Gotta Be.

If it's any of the original Rick group, I may have problems-trouble recovering But, killing off Jesus may be a Dale type turning point (again) where people decide that living like savages is the only way to live.

It might be Kahl. What a mess. No way this is going to get better with the fan base. We're dropping like flies!
