The Grand Canyon:
Petrodvorets (Peter the Great's amazing residence and grounds in St. Petersburg):

(38,436 posts)Just a point of information...when I looked at the picture you posted of Petrodvorets, ...that long narrow pool of water, that is in the center of the picture, going off into the distance, instantly reminded me of Versailles home of King Louie XIV..of France. very similar..

(205,664 posts)It really is just amazing - there's a path you can take and if you step on certain stones, another fountain will spring up! And this was from the 1600s! It's not a natural wonder, but mighty impressive, nonetheless!

(4,533 posts)And I was sky high on acid at Yosemite so that just proves St Peters is killer bee. It was so transcendingly beautiful it almost made me believe in God. I love to picture people walking out of downtown Middle Ages going to Rome seeing that church in its achingly beautiful - and sublime - perfection. It really would convert the heathens to see something so seemingly impossible. I still dont understand how mere mortals could produce that church.

Scotland - too many areas to mention, but the mountainous region of Glen Coe
White Mountain area in the fall at peak foliage
Cross Country skiing in Vermont on a heavily snowing day
The Oregon coast between Yachats and Oceanside - actually right up to Astoria
Yellowstone (especially the Lamar Valley area)
San Juan Islands (especially parts of Orcas)
Mt Rainier in Washington at wildflower time
Ocracoke Island, NC Outer Banks
We don't take all that many vacations but make them count! We've also been lucky to live in nice areas - New England, Washington, Pennsylvania (west of Philadelphia toward Lancaster), now North Carolina (take your pick - coast, or mountains!)

My "see below" was Mahé. Mahé and Kaua'i were tied for my top choices.
I can't decide which.
Mahé is just un-fucking real. So is Kaua'i
Crater Lake and Denali State Park are tied for third.

I lived in Alice Springs back in the 70s. They call it The Red Centre. The red sand is everywhere and the scenery while stark, can be spectacular
