(62,444 posts)Ive carried a pocketknife as long as I can remember. What you really need are a blade, screwdriver, a can opener and a corkscrew. (Although my current one has a saw blade thats come in handy)
The corkscrew has saved me more times than anything else.
Ive never found one with scissors - including victorinox - that were worth the trouble. Likewise, you are better off going at a Phillips screw with a diagonal flat driver than the wrong size Phillips driver.

(1,642 posts)I think it addresses your screwdriver issues.
I could never carry one that didn't have the scissors. It's a precision tool. Excellent for fine hair grooming, paper, and electrical wire work.
The Vic can opener is the greatest pocket knife can opener, ever.

(5,914 posts)That is the only can opener I use.

(1,642 posts)For something like 150 years, there was two SAK companies. Now there is only one.
I chose Vic over Wenger about 40 years ago based on the design of the can opener.
The Wenger opener was somewhat ordinary for a pocket knife. The Vic was a "reverse" action design. Gets that can opened in no time.

(65,076 posts)It's Victorinox, too. I have two. One has a cork screw on the bottom side and the other has a phillips head. I don't have a huge need for the corkscrew, so i guess i'm torn. The corkscrew does look better.

(1,642 posts)It slips out of the screw too easily.
The screwdrivers need to be on the top side to be useful.
The corkscrew is used to hold the detachable micro screwdriver, which comes with the larger models. Very good for fixing glasses.

(65,076 posts)It's the tongs are too large, so it's only useful if you are taking out a big screw. They should make it a finer point screwdriver.

(62,444 posts)I have lost three of them.

(1,642 posts)I've paid much more for them in the past.

Probably not an "official" manufacturer item, as some of the blades and tools are repeated.
Looks like someone's home modification, or probably, it's just a photoshop image.
On eBay, I am the seller of these impractically large SAKs, which fetch $500 or more.

I carry a Victorinox Cybertool 34. It's a good balance of size and tools.
My most used tool is the scissors. But, if the Swiss Army Knife on which it is mounted is too large or heavy, one can neither effectively use it, nor the other tools.

(82,849 posts)The knife apparently fell out of my pocket near the end of the day. When we returned to the job site the next day, the knife had created a full-size replica of the Eiffel Tower. The company had to let me go, and I need to know if the manufacturer will reimburse me for lost wages.
