What are your favorite crock pot recipes? I have no food restrictions but I draw the line at insects. I travel 100% of the time and live in hotels that generally don't allow cooking in their rooms. I'm sick of coffee-maker ramen and restaurants are too expensive where I tend to work.
So I got a tiny little crock pot thats easily hidden from housekeeping.
Ideas?

(877 posts)Let it cook the FULL 10 hours (I even go 18 hours) and BE CAREFUL with the peppers. They really get hot (spicy) after cooking a long time and the flavors get really concentrated. Try it the first time without cooking the peppers (use them on the side).
The other Chicago "trick" is to dip the bread (only crusty French Bread please).

(26,263 posts)I marinate a pork butt roast for 24 hours in orange, lime and lemon juice, onions, garlic, chili peppers and cumin in a zip lock bag, and turn it every few hours. Then I pour the whole shabang into the crock pot and cook on low for about 14 hours. The pork practically shreds itself. I serve this with black beans and rice, tortillas, guacamole and sour cream and wash it down with Sangria.

(2,150 posts)Don't know what size "tiny little" is, but basic idea is
disassembled chicken parts
Plus
Decent jarred or fresh salsa
In quantity sufficient for your crock pot.
Might have to thicken with a little masa or cornmeal at the end
You're on your own for rice to spoon it over
(I know it's easily hidden from housekeeping but I'd think sooner or later housekeeping could sniff it out if it smells good!)

(118,659 posts)taco seasoning. Refold. Put in greased slow cooker. Cover with a can of mixed rinsed beans and a bottle of salsa. Serve over microwaved rice with sour cream. It takes 4 hrs on high or a bit less. You can also serve with guacamole. Sour cream is a must though.

There's a crockpot category there. I have five crockpots. My first was a small circular one so I bought a bigger oval one. I got one from a Freecycle website and have been gifted two. Every 3 or 4 months, I go buy all the ingredients for 10-12 recipes, get them all running, and then vacuum-seal and freeze them. Get about 3-4 months of dinners out of it.

(7,809 posts)Basically it's a pork roast with a touch of liquid smoke in it. Even the cheapest cut of pork comes out delicious.
The biggest problem is that it is high in fat.

(6,121 posts)1. Place chicken breast, or leg, in crockpot.
2. Pour can of Cream of Chicken soup.
3. Add rosemary to taste.
That's it. It's delicious!
