Barry Gibb, the last surviving member of the Bee Gees, said he was dedicating his knighthood to his late bandmates, twin brothers Robin Gibb, who died in 2012, and Maurice Gibb, who died in 2003.
"I want to acknowledge how responsible my brothers are for this honor," said Gibb, 71. "It is as much theirs as it is mine."
He was recognized for services to music and charity.
"This is a moment in life to be treasured and never forgotten," he said. ....

"...merit, service, or bravery" So there is NO ONE in the British military who has fought in Afghanistan or Africa or somewhere who showed enough bravery to be knighted? Knighthood used to be a military honor. Now it's for whomever survived a severe enough drug habit to make good music.

pay by their loss of freedom and requirement to conform to the proper behavior no matter what. the old gilded cage syndrome IMO. Live queens bring in more dough than dead ones
