making a really good dinner and I have to go to a meeting : (

made some tzaziki and mixed up the meat and veggies for kofte - and even used the middle eastern 7 spice mix my sister brought back from Egypt a while back. the meat smells YUMMY. going to try my first attempt at some kind of pita/flat bread too. Using my sourdough starter with just a little extra yeast to make sure it doesn't turn into a hard plate of unrisen dough. Nice day to bake bread - NOT. it is 98 degrees in the yard 84 in the house without the oven on yet.

If I didn't have a meeting to go to I might even break out the raki I have had stashed for about 10 years.

why didn't we have the tuna sandwiches tonight that we had yesterday??? I am a dumbass.

oh well leftovers when I get home

I just love middle eastern food. I have used regular bread dough to make flat bread. Just flatten it real thin and then cook the rounds in an oiled skillet, flipping once. I have never tried raki; is it sort of like ouzo?

yes raki is Turkish Ouzo from what I understand (never had Ouzo) - they call it Lion's milk because it turns white when you add cold water - and of course teh whole drunken bravery thing

I have not heard it called lion's milk. Anise has an amphetamine type effect when ingested, maybe that has something to do with the bravery I hope your meeting is worthwhile, because this thread is making me hungry and thirsty and I am not even in the same state, let alone the same kitchen
