(4,305 posts)The sun still shines on everyone; it's out there for you and me.
The song of the birds, the stars - how they shine!
The flowers and the trees - they're yours, they're mine!
And love can come to anyone! The best things in life are free!
This was a song people sang to comfort each other during the Great Depression, about 80 years ago. I may have some of the words wrong; I am remembering when my mother and various people on TV sang it during my childhood.

(8,203 posts)shadow - Theme song from Arthur - I am going to date myself, kinda, Mom watched Kate Smith -
When the Moon Comes Over The Mountain - her theme song from her Kate Smith Hour - early 50's....(I was very young, 6 or 7) but never forgot the song - our music in our home was ALL encompassing, from classical, to 40s and 50s - when I got to be a teenager, I liked the Beatles - but the Rolling Stones was my favorite..
Thanks to ALL - for the opportunity to reflect on happier days....

Also: Светит Месяц ("Svyeteet Myesats," or "Brightly Shines the Moon" ), an old Russian folk song, and one of the first pieces I learned to play on the balalaika.
