For the viewing audience, a definite blessing (provided it is worn by someone who can pull off the aesthetic). For the wearer, frequently an abomination, especially if she happens to drop a pencil.

Now, hot pants... all of the advantages, without the disadvantages. Shame they had such a brief vogue, but as I was 16 at the time, I'll just quietly smirk at those who were not so privileged.

It made lots of sense, when the weather was chilly.

What I never understood was the minidress-and-sweater look. If you're wearing a sweater because you're cold, why on earth are you leaving your nether parts open to the breeze?

Not being able to bend over etc. Even in high school in the 70s there were minis, midis and maxis. I had plenty of midis and maxis. I also had a pair of Dittos jeans.
