Death in the family? I didn't catch the first minute or so (checking a basketball game), but he was thanking everybody and their uncle--was very emotional, practically crying. What'd I miss?

I flew into his home town of Baton Rouge w him on the last flight in for Hurricane Gustav. Kind of small in stature and extremely warm and gregarious. He was pretty new to CNN then and when I got a picture w him in the front row and walked back in the plane no one knew who he was. I said,..."That's Don Lemon you guys!". He was going home to make sure his Mom was alright. We sat together in the airport in Atlanta. Sorry for your loss Don.
