(4,492 posts)Everyone likes to hate on it, but I LOVE winter. Give me a nice snow scene over summer any day.

(1,752 posts)though in recent years the evidence of global warming is right in our face - winters that are too warm (rainy& brown landscape with thick gray clouds instead of the sub-zero cold brilliant blue skies and dazzling white snow that I grew up with. I think that rainy damp cold is worse (ie feels much colder) than the real arctic cold.
Growing up I never thought Id say I liked winter and feel a sense of grieving when we dont get a proper one. Besides the beauty, its also a time to go inward a bit and hibernate- watch movies, read, etc. Summer is much too frantic - besides all the outdoor activities I have a fixer upper house and SOOOO MUCH I need to do. Winter gives me a break.
Oh one other thing that changed my experience of winter - just wearing the proper attire (thick long down coat, insulated boots, hats, gloves - the works). If I may generalize young people tend to be vain and think thick coats make them look fat and wont wear hats for fear of mussing up their pretty hair. Being old now I can admit to having been that type of young person once upon a time. No more! I dress like Im going on an arctic expedition. ]
Anyway - those are my musings upon this winter's morn. Thx for the lovely pic!
