When you pop the CD in, it should cue up in the Windows Media Center or some related program. If not, come back and let us know and I'm sure someone can help you.

(115,869 posts)When you put in a CD the computer should launch whatever application it uses to play the CD. You'd play it from that application. Nothing to it!

(37,540 posts)the speakers will probably disappoint. You can buy some nice external speakers to exploit the soundcard capability in your laptop. You use the headphone jack as the sound output to the speakers. I've got a set of Logitech speakers that handle 5.1 stereo with a separate powered bass....no need anymore for a separate receiver, CD player, IMHO.

Just be sure to check the specs and make sure the connection matches your computer (You're most likely looking for miniplug- aka headphone or 1/8" plug. Most laptops have a couple of USB ports as well- if you have a free port you can also use USB speakers)
