I can remember when record stores let you go into a booth and listen to the record before you bought it. 78s were so fragile. Sometimes the record got cracked before you arrived home. And they were 89 cents in the 40s. That was a months allowance.

I grew up in the heyday of those new-fangled 33 1/3 long playing records - practically yesterday.

I'm a great fan of songs from the 30s and 40s. There are some real gems on that list.
