The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI got the news today, oh boy!
After a month of cleaning/fumigating my wonderful 2015 Nissan Versa (a battery in a GPS system blew up in the back seat), it won't be salvageable. The garage called me with the news a few minutes ago. It was the best car I ever owned.
It's going to be one hell of a search for a replacement. Plus, I'm out $250 bucks on my insurance coverage (deductible).
I'll be in search of another 2015 Nissan Versa. I will take a male friend along (hubby can't walk that well on car lots and car dealerships don't treat a lone woman like she knows anything).
I hope this will be painless, but I'm doubtful that it will be.
Can anyone recommend a good used car vintage 2015 as a replacement?

(2,559 posts)You might also want to look for a Honda (Fit) or Hyundai (Accent hatch or Elantra wagon).
You might get the impression I like hatchbacks. I do. They sort of make up for the limited interior space of a sub compact car.
I would also check online to see which years of these or other suggestions were problematic. I wouldn't necessarily insist on a 2015 vintage, unless that year has some special sentimental significance for you.

(34,136 posts)Two - a 1999 GMC Suburban (purchased in 2004) and a 2006 Toyota Prius (purchased in 2013) were found on Cars.com and purchased from used car lots.
Both cars have been very reliable and we believe we got great prices for them.
Cars.com has a great search engine and you can limit it to your immediate geographical area. You put in your parameters - price, make, model, year (or type of vehicle), etc - and it will throw up the ones that match. Most offer a CarFax report for free.
The third, a 2014 Prius V was found on Carvana.com and purchased last summer.
Carvana has their own inventory of vehicles. In some markets they will deliver to your door. You can try the car out immediately, then if you like it, have a seven day return policy. They do not negotiate price at all. What they post is it. They also offer a CarFax report on their cars. If you find one out of your market, they will ship it to you.
We have been extremely pleased with the car we got from Carvana. The price was decent and the car was nearly spotless. Since I had been searching for a Prius V for a few months, I was happy to find a good one and in a color we like.

Theyll even bring a vehicle from one Carmax to another for you to view. Good luck! And I mourn for your little Versa, too. Theyre fun little cars to drive.
