Begun, on this day in 1860, the Pony Express.

#OnThisDay 1860, 1st Pony Express riders left MO/CA. The cross-country trip took about 10 days. Pic is original flyer.

Take it away, Ted Nugent.

Hey, look, the guy had some decent tunes. Per Wikipedia, the album was released on Frank Zappa's label (not that that's much of a guarantee):

Call of the Wild (Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes album)

Call of the Wild is the sixth album by Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes. Recorded in the summer of 1973, it is the first of two albums released on Frank Zappa's DiscReet label. Re-issued in 1977 by Warner Bros as part of "Two Originals of... Ted Nugent".

You can listen to this and still not like Trump. Really, would you argue that "Journey to the Center of Your Mind" isn't a good song? He knew his stuff back then. Anyway, now that I have my flameproof suit on:

As a consolation, here's a video from the TV series, which still shows up on the over-the-air networks that specialize in showing old TV shows:

The Young Riders

The Young Riders is an American western television series created by Ed Spielman that presents a fictionalized account of a group of young Pony Express riders (some of whom are young versions of legendary figures in Old West history) based at the Sweetwater Station in the Nebraska Territory during the years leading up to the American Civil War. The series premiered on ABC on September 20, 1989 and ran for three seasons until the final episode aired on July 23, 1992.

The "golden spike," so to speak, for the transcontinental telegraph was driven in downtown Salt Lake City. There's a plaque at the site.
