I'm smiling my little doves are spreading their wings
They made their 30 days and in the union on the list bought their union card. And now overtime is allowed, three of them all in their 20’s came in last night at 2200 sucking up the overtime. We’re all on a 0200 start to 10am as yard jockeys. Anytime after 8 is time half after40 time half after 48 double time. After 58 triple time oh my little doves make me smile. They smell huge cash, as I sat on break drinking my coffee I listened to them. Hey next bid I’m going out on the street to peddle groceries store delivery one young man said. We as yard make same wages as road drivers. And the other guy said no way man I’m staying in yard. Cuz road guys work a 70 hour d.o.t. Clock federal regulation. He says man I’m gonna have huge wad in my pocket I’m gonna do 7- 12 hour days two weeks a month.
I was thinking oh I remember feeling same way 30 years ago after I got my chauffeur truck licenses before they turned to cdl license. Cash gotta make it 22 years old my wife is in college we have a year half old daughter.
