Situation 1: You just said goodbye to someone, and now you have to walk the entire parking lot in the same direction as that person. Your cars are right next to each other (which you forgot about or didn't know about when saying goodbye). So, you kind of just creep out behind the person for the entire length of the parking lot until you get there. Or, you say goodbye to someone, then they catch up to you and you're both on the same elevator going down.
Situation 2: Your friend sees someone that she knows and you don't. They're having their own conversation together, and you're just creeping out behind your friend, not really in the conversation, but just standing there. You can't say hi because it would be rude to interrupt the conversation, but just standing there silently... It's just creepy as hell. So, you pull out your IPhone and pretend to do stuff on it even though you're really not - still very creepy.
Situation 3: You get in a "stand-off" with someone where you're walking in opposite directions in a small corridor, and while each of you try to get out of each other's ways, you actually get in each other's way. Just about to crash into each other, and extremely embarrassed, you apologize and somehow make it through without a concussion.
Situation 4: You trip over something, and for some unknown reason (and almost everybody does this), you pretend that you're running for a second, stretching, or something else to play it off that looks even weirder than tripping over something.
My life in a nutshell. lol

(63,213 posts)We were heading to the 22nd floor or something. We weren't close friends, but sufficiently well acquainted that she'd previously told me that she was pregnant, near the end of her 1st trimester. I hadn't seen her for about three weeks.
"So how's the ever-increasing family?" I asked as the elevator started to climb on its long journey.
"I miscarried two weeks ago," she said sadly.
"Oh. Shit," I said.
To be honest, she was quite gracious about it, but I swear that it was the slowest express elevator in the history of modern architecture.
